Bake Sale Planning

Happy Monday everyone!!

Tomorrow we will discuss things more in depth but for now I would like to post a quick update while my brain is on the topic - otherwise I will later lose my mind and not know what to do with myself. It's that kind of day. So.

Hannah and I took a quick trip to Nelson Market on South Green and picked up four boxes of cake mix. Two boxes of yellow and two boxes of devil's food. That makes about 100 cupcakes (assuming to boxes make 24 cupcakes each). I have been digging through Pinterest to find other recipes to try out - and goodness, was that a mistake. There are so many cupcakes on Pinterest.

I have plans to go to Kroger and/or Walmart later this week and pick up Angel Food cake mix, whipped cream, and chocolate, then close to the 11th I will pick up a batch of strawberries that can be chopped up and placed on top. Those should be a popular fix!

If anyone is wanting to help by donating food items or baking items like sugar, eggs, etc. to help out with the cause, they would be greatly appreciated - just send me a message on Facebook or ask a member of club for my personal contact information and contact me that way. We can work something out!

And finally, Walter has given us the OK to use his kitchen as our own personal bakery so I was hoping to do some baking on Thursday and Friday the 9th and 10th, and then we can do the full on bake sale Saturday, the 11th.

See everyone tomorrow!

Restaurant Trip, T-shirts and Halloween.

Good afternoon my friendly geeks, gamers and otakus.

Yesterday we had a small and quick meeting and the updates - much as the title explains - are few, but important.

Restaurant Trip

We will be heading to Sushiko in Columbus, OH on November 22 for lunch. This is a Saturday and it is the weekend before Thanksgiving Break with Ohio University. If you have an interest in going with us, we ask that you fill out your information on the Google Doc that was shared on the Facebook Page (just search JMAGE and you'll find us) by November 4. I will be making the reservation the day after so exceptions will not be made.

Due to the large amount of people going, we are working out the driving situation. When we have everything worked out, we will send out an update.

Club T-Shirts

Another Google Doc will be made for people to put down their names and shirt sizes if people want a club T-shirt. The image that we use as our profile photo on Google+ is the image that will appear on the shirt - and of course, the shirts will be green.

If 30+ people want a T-shirt, they will run $10 a person. If 42 (I'm about 75% sure of that number, ask Jimmy for a better idea) people sign up we get cheaper shirts.

Halloween

Yes, it's October. Yes, it is Pumpkin-spice-you-name-it-we-make-it season too. And YES. We will be having a small Halloween get together. On November 1, we will reserve a room where we can congregate (most likely in Morton, but I have to see what is available before I give an exact location) and carve pumpkins, play some horror games and maybe watch a movie. Also: bring cosplay! Dress up! There is a high possibility some club alumnus will be attending and they take professional photos, so if you want some [free] photography of your cosplay, now is the time to get it!

Later this month we will nominate some movies and decide what will be watched. We will also decide how many hours we want to make this (the original plan is to hang out for 3, maybe 4, hours) and have a location for this get together.

See everyone tomorrow at the showing!

Room Update: Friday Showings

Hello my fellow anime watchers and game players!

With one of two projectors in the 201 Morton room being out we talked to Chubb Hall and managed to get room 237 Morton. Hoping everything in this room works to our specifications.

We will place a note on the doors of 201 as a reminder of this change.

Thank you and see you all tomorrow!!

Welcome to JMAGE! (Meeting 1 details)

Greetings my fellow anime lovers, manga readers and gamers alike! This is your PR Officer, Maddie. For those of you who are new, I do keep updated notes here on the blog after every Tuesday meeting and keep an updated list of the episode count every Friday. So if you missed a meeting, this is where you will find all of our minutes.

Starting off, JMAGE is happy to announce we welcomed over 50 members yesterday at our first meeting of the Semester. As claimed, this turn out of students is better than the turn out we had last year! Every one mingled and had an enjoyable time before the meeting.

Our officers were introduced to the crowd and the unveiling of the numerous events we attend and supply. This year we will be attending Ohayocon in Columbus, Ohio, and attempting to attend Katsucon in Washington D.C., Maryland. The deadlines for both are in October - Ohayocon is $40 for registration and $60 (of $65 depending on the Hyatt's fees this year) and Katsucon is $50 for registration and is $140 for hotel fees. If you wish to attend these your membership fee of $20 must be paid prior to or at the time of registration/hotel payments. This membership fee will pay for the gas your driver will use to take you to said conventions.

Finally, all members in attendance at the Tuesday meeting were given the chance to vote on a collection of 35 different titles of anime to elect 11 to be thrown into the Grab Bag Showing we will have this Friday. In order, those titles are as follows...

  • With 44 votes: Bobo-bo Bo Bo-bobo
  • With 43 votes: Saint Young Men
  • With 34 votes: Panty & Stocking with Garter Belt
  • With 29 votes: Code Geass
  • With 29 votes: Psycho Pass
  • With 25 votes: Cowboy Bebop
  • With 23 votes: Noragami
  • With 23 votes: Squid Girl
  • With 20 votes: Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei
  • With 19 votes: Sakurasou no Pet no Kanojo [Pet Girl]
  • With 19 votes: DuRaRaRa!
This Friday - the 29th - we will watch an episode (most likely the first of the series) from each of these 11 anime choices and members who attend the showing will be given the ability to vote on these titles using our 3-2-1 point system. Remember that one must show up to Morton 201 to be able to vote.

At Roundtable...

Gary Grant discussed Dagorhir and Humans vs. Zombies during roundtable. If you are interested in either of these things, contact him through Facebook or find him at a club event and he will gladly talk to you about these events happening around Athens.

Alex Schmitz - a member of TechHeads here at Ohio University - runs an Anime Podcast and has offered a possible chance of joining him and the TH group to do writing and podcast and such if interested. He, too, can be contacted on Facebook or at club events.

Kyle Driscoll runs a DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) club this year and has offered the ability to join the club. He attends many of our events and can be contacted that way and also through Facebook.

Enjoy your first week with Ohio University and we hope to see everyone in Morton Hall this Friday!
