Bake Sale Planning

Happy Monday everyone!!

Tomorrow we will discuss things more in depth but for now I would like to post a quick update while my brain is on the topic - otherwise I will later lose my mind and not know what to do with myself. It's that kind of day. So.

Hannah and I took a quick trip to Nelson Market on South Green and picked up four boxes of cake mix. Two boxes of yellow and two boxes of devil's food. That makes about 100 cupcakes (assuming to boxes make 24 cupcakes each). I have been digging through Pinterest to find other recipes to try out - and goodness, was that a mistake. There are so many cupcakes on Pinterest.

I have plans to go to Kroger and/or Walmart later this week and pick up Angel Food cake mix, whipped cream, and chocolate, then close to the 11th I will pick up a batch of strawberries that can be chopped up and placed on top. Those should be a popular fix!

If anyone is wanting to help by donating food items or baking items like sugar, eggs, etc. to help out with the cause, they would be greatly appreciated - just send me a message on Facebook or ask a member of club for my personal contact information and contact me that way. We can work something out!

And finally, Walter has given us the OK to use his kitchen as our own personal bakery so I was hoping to do some baking on Thursday and Friday the 9th and 10th, and then we can do the full on bake sale Saturday, the 11th.

See everyone tomorrow!

Fundraising Part 2

Hello all! I hope everyone is having a much better week than I am! Tuesday we discussed one major thing and that was fundraising. Since we seem to be making more and more trips out of town (this semester we even went out of state!) we have discussed and are working to set up a second bake sale this year.

The weekend of April 11 is Mom's weekend. Considering the weekend is an OU student favorite we believe that having a bake sale should be a great idea to raise a decent amount of money! So if you have extra flex points leftover at the end of the next few weeks and want to help out, donations of cake mix, cookie dough, frosting and any other item that can help with baked goods would be much appreciated.

The initial baking will take place either Thursday or Friday the day before we all set up shop and begin selling our baked goods. I have already requested using my boyfriend - Walter's - kitchen to bake items and he has given us the thumbs up. So all who wish to help bake items are welcome to come out to his place with me and bake some lovely items.

I can supply a table and potentially a tent depending on where we decide to set up shop. Since we plan to work on a Saturday (which is the 11 of April) it may be possible we can set up a table right outside the back door at my work (College Book Store). When all the details have been set up, an update will be posted here to the blog and on the Facebook!

Cheers!

Board Election Results: 2015-2016

Greetings everyone! As of yesterday (well, close to 16 hours ago) the club held the board elections for the 2015-2016 school year. Some of the votes were close but the results are in.

Next year, the board will look like this:
President: Maddie Stricklin
Vice President: Tristan Wayne
Treasurer: Halee Smith
Scribe: Ali Smith
Webmaster: Hannah Yinger

I look forward to having a fun year as President next year. Next month I will pass on the Scribe/PR torch to Ali and show her the ropes of updating you all on our actions!

Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday (especially if you're like me and you've had only about 12 hours of sleep over the course of the last 3 days)!

Upcoming Tuesday (3/10/15) Meeting Happenings

Greetings fellow anime lovers and otaku alike! I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break despite getting nearly a foot of snow (if you live in southern Ohio, eastern Kentucky, etc). We start classes again tomorrow and have a meeting this coming Tuesday. We have a few things going on that are very important this Tuesday so here's a quick rundown of what will take place.

Board/Officer Elections

Tuesday we will hold our elections for the 2015-2016 board members. A glimpse at who is running is as follows.

PRESIDENT:
~ Maddie Stricklin
~ Halee Smith

VICE PRESIDENT:
~ Tristan Wayne

TREASURER:
~ Jacob Jones
~ Halee Smith

SCRIBE/PUBLIC RELATIONS:
~ Ali Smith
~ Sarah Reichart

WEB MASTER:
~ Hannah Yinger

Voting will take place among paid members and alumni of the club during the meeting time after each rep has made their presentations. Best of luck to everyone.

Convention and Trip Refunds.

Jimmy has gotten the paperwork done from the two conventions and has hashed out who is getting what money back for the three trips we have taken this semester. If you drove to Sushiko and/or Ohayocon and attended Katsucon with us (in the van) then talk to Jimmy about getting your refund back.

Usual Shenanigans.

With events coming up through the University and other events that we have planned, we will ensue with our usual obnoxiousness and discuss what our plans for the second half of the semester include. Events include a possible fundraiser for Mom's Weekend next month [April], a second Saturday Showing, an end of the semester/year study party the weekend before finals week and a few others.

I hope everyone sleeps well tonight and gets to class without too many hiccups tomorrow morning. I know I'll have trouble getting up at my usual 7:30 am rather than closer to 10/11 am or some strange time in the afternoon. See everyone Tuesday!!

Spring Semester 2015: Friday Schedule, Room Change & More

Happy Tuesday, Everyone! Welcome to Week 2 with us at Ohio University! There's a few updates to go over officially, so let's catch up!

To start with, due to an issue with another club we have moved our Tuesday Meetings into Ellis room #119. Go up a floor and it's in the middle of the left hallway (if you come in the front doors facing South Green). Our Friday Showings have moved to Morton 201 again with a few exceptions on a few dates. Once everything has been settled for those days there will be an update on the Facebook and here on the blog.

Secondly, the schedule for the Friday showings will show the anime as follows:

  • Hamtaro: Little Hamsters, Big Adventures
  • Gundam Build Fighters
  • Log Horizon
  • Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis
  • Devil is a Part-Timer
  • Twintails Ni Narimasu
  • World Conquest Zveda Plot
  • Kanazuki no Miko
  • Katanagatari
Dinner break will occur at 6:00 pm as per the usual.

And thirdly, Ohayocon begins in two weeks, and Katsucon begins in four weeks. This week we discussed hotels, car rides, etc. The documents are pinned to the Facebook so be sure to check which room you are in. Rides will be confirmed at next weeks meeting as well as the official Convention 101 presentations and advice panels. Be sure to pay your hotel fees before we head out to the hotel!

See everyone Friday in Morton 201!
