Welcome to JMAGE! (Meeting 1 details)

Greetings my fellow anime lovers, manga readers and gamers alike! This is your PR Officer, Maddie. For those of you who are new, I do keep updated notes here on the blog after every Tuesday meeting and keep an updated list of the episode count every Friday. So if you missed a meeting, this is where you will find all of our minutes.

Starting off, JMAGE is happy to announce we welcomed over 50 members yesterday at our first meeting of the Semester. As claimed, this turn out of students is better than the turn out we had last year! Every one mingled and had an enjoyable time before the meeting.

Our officers were introduced to the crowd and the unveiling of the numerous events we attend and supply. This year we will be attending Ohayocon in Columbus, Ohio, and attempting to attend Katsucon in Washington D.C., Maryland. The deadlines for both are in October - Ohayocon is $40 for registration and $60 (of $65 depending on the Hyatt's fees this year) and Katsucon is $50 for registration and is $140 for hotel fees. If you wish to attend these your membership fee of $20 must be paid prior to or at the time of registration/hotel payments. This membership fee will pay for the gas your driver will use to take you to said conventions.

Finally, all members in attendance at the Tuesday meeting were given the chance to vote on a collection of 35 different titles of anime to elect 11 to be thrown into the Grab Bag Showing we will have this Friday. In order, those titles are as follows...

  • With 44 votes: Bobo-bo Bo Bo-bobo
  • With 43 votes: Saint Young Men
  • With 34 votes: Panty & Stocking with Garter Belt
  • With 29 votes: Code Geass
  • With 29 votes: Psycho Pass
  • With 25 votes: Cowboy Bebop
  • With 23 votes: Noragami
  • With 23 votes: Squid Girl
  • With 20 votes: Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei
  • With 19 votes: Sakurasou no Pet no Kanojo [Pet Girl]
  • With 19 votes: DuRaRaRa!
This Friday - the 29th - we will watch an episode (most likely the first of the series) from each of these 11 anime choices and members who attend the showing will be given the ability to vote on these titles using our 3-2-1 point system. Remember that one must show up to Morton 201 to be able to vote.

At Roundtable...

Gary Grant discussed Dagorhir and Humans vs. Zombies during roundtable. If you are interested in either of these things, contact him through Facebook or find him at a club event and he will gladly talk to you about these events happening around Athens.

Alex Schmitz - a member of TechHeads here at Ohio University - runs an Anime Podcast and has offered a possible chance of joining him and the TH group to do writing and podcast and such if interested. He, too, can be contacted on Facebook or at club events.

Kyle Driscoll runs a DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) club this year and has offered the ability to join the club. He attends many of our events and can be contacted that way and also through Facebook.

Enjoy your first week with Ohio University and we hope to see everyone in Morton Hall this Friday!
